Pistol: British Flintlock

  • $12500

'Pistols...at dawn!!'

Highly reliable, water resistant and accurate the British duelling pistol was the highpoint in the mechanical development of the flintlock pistol. This handsome reproduction piece is made of metal and wood and has a simulated firing mechanism.

Jacky Marmon, the notorious Pakeha Maori, was said to have accompanied Ngapuhi musket raids to the south "...festooned with pistols", and there were duels fought on the beach at Kororareka Russell between the merchant Joel Polack and Ben Turner the inn-keeper, in 1837 and again in 1842!
